There are some do's and dont's when it comes to fantasy football that can make or break your season. Follow these ten tips and you should be contending for your championship year after year...
Number 5 - Do not pick your top tier players from bad teams:
The bad teams of the league do not get as many yards or points as the better teams. You will be leaving fantasy points on the table by picking the best player on a bad team over the best player on a good team. This may be seem obvious but you would be surprised how many people have their core players from under .500 teams.
Number 4 - Pick up a new Defense and Kicker each week:
Unless you own the the Ravens, Steelers, or Jets Defense, you should pick up a new defense every week. Base your decision on a new defense on match-ups. There are always a couple teams that every week allow defenses to have big weeks because of turnovers, special teams TDs, etc. Unless you own the #1-3 kicker just try to get a good match-up each week.
Number 3 - Do not pick a QB/WR from a running team and a RB from a passing team:
Don't lie, you know that guy who owns Joseph Addai and Hines Ward. Let me guess... His team is terrible, right? That's because he owns the running back of the highest passing team in the NFL and a WR from one of the teams who run the ball the most. Sure they are well known players but they have no wow factor. They will almost never have a BIG game. Pick passing players from passing teams and running backs from running teams. Period.
Number 2 - Trash Talk:
Your probably like what the *enter curse word of your choice here* does trash talking have to do with Fantasy Football? But its true, trash talking is a big part of becoming a contender in your league. Let me explain: What happens when someone trash talks in real life? Their opponent steps up their game, right? Well in Fantasy Football you can't control how your players play. If you start to get on the nerves of your opponent they will think too much about who they are going to start and bench. Fantasy Football is partially a mind game and you are going to win it. But also don't misunderstand me, your team needs to be at least decent for this to have any effect.
Number 1 - Trust your Instinct:
How many times do you have to decide who to start between two different players? Maybe you make your decision on Tuesday to start Player A but on Sunday morning you start getting cold feet so you put in Player B instead. Then, of course, Player A outplays B. The point is, you need to trust your football instinct because almost 100% of the time you know what you are doing and will make the right decision.
Follow these 5 tips and you should be on your way to being the champion of your Fantasy Football League!
